My name is Simon and I have been a vegetarian and part-time vegan for over 30 years now. I became a vegetarian when I was a young man and never looked back.

My interest in vegetarian cooking and baking, health, diet, natural remedies, and eco-friendly products let me create this website to share my passion.

I don’t know about you but the question I most often get is “Why are you a vegetarian?” I am always tempted to answer “Why do you eat meat when you know the cruelty, exploitation, damage to the environment, and negative effects it has on your health?”

Part of the problem is that people have become too disassociated with the human food chain. To most meat-eaters, that piece of chicken or beef on their plate is just a slab of protein, not the dead body of a once-living, breathing creature.

I suspect if all young adults, as part of their education, were shown what really happens in a slaughterhouse or asked to kill their own chickens and pigs, many more of them would choose a more compassionate and less harmful way of life.

My hope is that this blog will not only be of interest to vegetarians and vegans but also gently persuade committed carnivores that one of the best things they can do for their health and the health of the planet, is to eat less meat or stop eating it altogether.

With so many vegetarian and vegan options available now, switching to a plant-based diet is no great hardship. It’s a lifestyle change that can have dramatic consequences not just for your own health and weight but has far-reaching benefits world-wide in terms of habitat destruction, pollution, world-hunger, water supply and just making this world a kinder, gentler more caring, and compassionate place.
